Ingredients Notes

The ingredients in a traditional Philly cheesesteak sandwich can be highly debated and are something that a lot of people have strong feelings about. This Keto Philly cheesesteak recipe might not be traditional, but it sure tastes delicious.

  • Roast beef: Traditionally, a Philly cheesesteak is made with thinly sliced ribeye steak. For this keto casserole recipe, I chose to use a deli style roast beef.

  • Bell peppers: Whenever I cook with bell peppers, I always like to use a medley of colors – yellow, orange, red, and green. It’s adds so much color to the dish and each variety has a different flavor. (Try these Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers)

  • Onion: For this recipe I recommend using white onions or sweet onions. (Try this Philly Cheesesteak French Onion Soup)

  • Mushrooms: While mushrooms aren’t an ingredient in a classic cheesesteak, they make a delicious addition to this casserole. I used cremini, but you can any variety of mushroom you prefer.

  • Cheese: I used a combination of provolone and mozzarella, but gruyere, fontina, and sharp white cheddar cheese are great option also. It’s also delicious with my Keto Cheese Sauce on top.
